Marcus R. Breese - Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Indiana University School of Medicine. My research interests are early heart development, high throughput gene expression techniques, and the use of bioinformatics tools to further explore the relationships of organisms through their genomes. I've written many tools for laboratory information tracking including a LIMS system, a laboratory oriented wiki, and an order entry system. I've also compiled a few bioinformatics resources, such as the CrossGene database which compares known genes across many organisms allowing for cross-species analysis.

After building more than a few web applications, I started working on my own java webapp framework: Scratch. Scratch came out of my frustrations with existing frameworks and the desire to make Java webapp programming faster. Scratch aids in this by using the newest Java 1.5 features as well leveraging the popular Hibernate and Spring projects.
